Warehouses can have a few dozen, a few hundred or a few thousand employees and should, in theory be reasonably safe and pleasant places to work in. But in order for those employees to be able to go home at the end of a shift intact and uninjured there needs to be adequate health and safety equipment and procedures in situ.

Many accidents which occur in warehouse environments tend to be caused by the same sort of things:

  • Slips, trips and falls
  • Manual handling or lifting
  • Falls from height or being hit by objects falling from height
  • Forklift or moving accidents

Injuries caused in these situations can range from minor strains, cuts and bruises to fractures and even head injuries. Storage solutions

It seems obvious that many trips are caused by workers falling over items, or walking into items that really shouldn’t be out on the floor. A workplace storage cabinet is essential for storing away items that could be dangerous like cleaning fluids, oils or grease. Fire safety

It is vital that all employees are aware of the location of fire safety equipment within the workplace and signs, which indicate the position of fire extinguishers, are essential. The location of fire doors should be clearly signposted.
